Long Walk Gp. 2 - 15th October 2026

Group Description :
The walk starts from the Yeld car park, goes through ancient woodlands, passing meres and along a scenic brookside and joins sections of the Sandstone Trail . The walk is 8.5 miles long and will be conducted at a good pace and has a total elevation of 683 ft. We have not arranged a pub lunch, so please bring a packed lunch.

Walk Description: From the Yeld car park we descend Forest Gate Road and enter Nettleford Woods before ascending Old Pale Hill. We then descend into Delamere Forest, passing to the rear of the campsite before crossing the B5152 and walking to the rear of the Barnsbridge carpark to the Hart Hill area of the forest. We follow the stream where the path is uneven and has exposed tree roots until we recross the B5152. We skirt the northern side of Blakemere moss and then cross the B road near Barnsbridge Gate carpark picking up the Sandstone trail and then looping back across the B road again exploring the western corner of the forest before returning via part of the Sandstone Trail and back up to the Yeld car park

Meeting Point:  Holmes Chapel Community Centre car park for car sharing at 09.00am. Please note that the walk leaders will go directly to the Yeld carpark. If you prefer to go straight to the walk start please be at the Yeld carpark for 9.30am for a 9.45 am start.
