WALK DESCRIPTION
A moderate circular walk of approximately 6.5 miles starting/finishing at The Knot Inn Pub, Rushton Spencer, Macclesfield. Enjoy lovely views over Rudyard Lake located on the border of Cheshire and the Staffordshire Moorlands.  The walk will take us through Rea Cliffe Wood, along Lake Road (with Rudyard Lake Sailing Club) and beside the miniature steam railway line passing Hunthouse Wood and Back Wood.  We will also pass Cliffe Park, a former railway station, which was opened in 1905 as part of the North Staffordshire Railway.  There will be time for a refreshment/comfort break at The Dam which is the halfway point. This is a relatively flat and well-marked walk of approximately 2.5 hours.  In wetter conditions the paths can be muddy, so appropriate footwear is advised.

MEETING PLACE
9:45 for a 10:00 start at The Knot Inn Pub, Station Lane, Rushton Spencer, Macclesfield, SK11 0QU.  Drive time from Holmes Chapel 25-30 minutes ( 13.1 miles). There is a car park and street parking (for those not staying for lunch).

ESTIMATED WALK TIME - 2:45 hours with a break. 

DISTANCE - Approximately 6.5 miles. 

PACE - Medium. 

TERRAIN -Varied.  Generally accessible but includes some sections with slight inclines and can be uneven in places, especially after rain.  

 STILES - 2.

 EQUIPMENT

Walking boots and warm/waterproof clothing (appropriate for the time of year). 

REFRESHMENTS - Please bring a drink and snack for the break.

 LUNCH

13:00 at The Knott Inn.  There is an initial booking for a table of 6 which can be amended.  The pub does not require pre-orders for tables under 12.  Please email Joanne.loftus@icloud.com if you ARE staying for lunch.
